The Dance Connection was established in 1992 by Kent Island native Meg Yoast, who began instructing dance in 1981. Opening up her own studio in her garage, Ms. Meg quickly outgrew several dance studio facilities, including the antique Stevensville School House. She has become a local dance instruction leader in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. The Dance Connection has been at its present modern facility at 204 Duke Street in Stevensville, MD since 1998. Ms. Yoast’s instruction emphasizes giving students strong bodies to take through life by improving posture, strength, coordination and control. As an instructor, her patience and perseverance has encouraged the spirit of children of all ages, and she teaches with an emphasis on fun. Budo Taijutsu - is a unique martial art that teaches true warrior values beyond physical techniques taught in most martial arts schools. This is a pragmatic style designed to quickly end confrontation, not a sport art. The Bujinkan Taka Segi (Hawk of Justice) Kent Island Shibu holds classes for age groups of 7-13 year olds and 14-100 year olds. The Instructor is Sensei Cary Irvin, a fourth-degree black belt in Budo Taijutsu and a first-degree black belt in Shinkin Gata (authentic battle techniques). For more information please CLICK HERE.

Ms. Yoast holds a degree in dance from Towson State University, and has co-chaired the Membership Chair for UNITY, a North Carolina-based organization that brings together K-12 dance instructors and dance studio owners to promote funding opportunities for dance. She is also a member of DanceMaster's of America, an association of dance instructors that over-see the professional level of dance instruction nationwide. DanceMaster members must fulfill the required strict battery of instruction and testing in order to achieve their accreditation.
